[osg-users] [3rdparty] how do you 'make'

Hi,

I am new to c++ and I am having trouble installing osg plugins such as cal3d and osgAL.

I have downlaoded the files but I am not sure what to do with them or where to put them.

The instructions only say:
make
make install

Could someone please tell me how to go about doing this?
As I said I am new to this so the more detailed the better!  :)
