Hi Robert,

You can download quite a bit of SRTM data from
ftp://e0srp01u.ecs.nasa.gov/srtm/version2 at varying resolutions.

One of the best websites I've seen for downloading data is:
http://seamless.usgs.gov/

It allows you quite a bit of access to data in various formats including
SRTM.  The above FTP is the best for downloading ALL the SRTM data if you
want to keep it and archive it.  Seemless can be a little cumbersome to
download data on, but overall it is pretty nice.

If I think of any other good sources I'll let you know!
