I'm interested but I cannot open the AVI. Is there a special CODEC that needs to be downloaded?

We're pretty satisfied with just using the world-space distance between the two ends of a segment to determine the texture coordinates. It's not perfect but sufficient...

That's what we're doing. Did you use OSG for your implementation? Care to share some details on how your geometry is being built?
