In the case of x/y in long/lats the elevation is scale proportionally
to ensure that model is correct proportions so that effectively the
elevation is in degrees.
You really wouldn't want to look at a model that has x,y in degrees
and z in meters, it would look seriously out of kilter with massive
massive mountains for just little bumps.
