Hi,

you can look at the osgUtil::Simplifier class,

http://www.openscenegraph.org/documentation/OpenSceneGraphReferenceDocs/a01497.html

and its example, osgsimplifier. It, however, seems to loose texture 
coordinates when simplifying the model.
